Vertical Studio 1: Incremental Adequate House
Vertical Studio is a on-week workshop at the begging of the second semester where undergraduate Architecture students collaborate to examine relevant contemporary socio-spatial issues.
Vertical Studio 1: Incremental Adequate House
Studio 1 is an ongoing project sponsored by the Integrated Land Management Institure , and Metallum Fabrication.
The Incremental Adquate House is designed to cater for the ultra-ultra-low-cost housing sector which currently comprises around 83% of Windhoek’s housing demand. The students are challenged with identifying contemporary issues related to architectue and technology and fomulate responses, while physically building the house themselves, offering invaluable experience in both design and technology, through unique engagement with a real-life buit project, which aims to address one of Namibia’s most prominent urban issues.
The studio was led by lecturers: Waseela Parbhoo and Deharno Kloppers
